Ten Mile Farm is a small, family-owned farm located just outside the city limits of Lancaster, Texas. It's a new enterprise, begun in 2005 for the primary purpose of breeding and raising Nigerian Dwarf goats. We started with a family of four, and are growing our herd through both breeding and selective purchases. As of January 2008, our herd includes 11 goats - 2 bucks, 3 does, 3 doelings, and 3 wethers. Because of the number of blue-eyed goats we have, we've decided to name the herd "Goats d'Azur". SELECTED GOATS FOR SALE!!!If you're interested in adding a Nigerian Dwarf goat to your family, please contact us at . Currently, we have one doe and two wethers for sale. Champ is an absolute sweetheart - very gentle and loving. His beautiful white coat, impressive beard, and cornflower blue eyes are sure to make him just as attractive to the does as he is to us humans! |
Billy Bob was our first buck, and is the unofficial mascot for Ten Mile Farm. Only time will tell whether the does prefer his rugged good looks or Champ's more refined appearance and manners. |
Snow White came to us from a small farm in Lone Oak, TX. She's a lovely little thing, very sweet and gentle. She appears to be naturally polled. Snow White produced two beautiful doelings on February 16, 2007. In the photo below, Daisy is on the left, and Elsie is on the right. |
FOR SALE - $100Nanny Sue was our first doe, and we were told when we bought her that she had been bred with Billy Bob. She's been here at Ten Mile Farm for the equivalent of four full gestation cycles and hasn't yet produced any kids, so obviously we were misinformed. Since she apparently isn't keen on Billy Bob, we're hoping she'll find Champ simply irresistible this go-round. |

Belle came to Ten Mile Farm along with Champ and Snow White. Her cornflower blue eyes are a perfect match for Champ's, but her coat shows more color than his, with peachy undertones making a fine complement to an otherwise white coat. Not to be outdone by Snow White, Belle produced twins on the very next day, February 17, 2007. Both of these kids have blue eyes. In the photo above, Alice Blue is on the left, with her brother Buckaroo on the right. |

FOR SALE - $50Spanky is a young wether (neutered male), just over a year old. Even though he and Alfie were born at the same time, Spanky is definitely the "baby" of our herd, and boy does he cry! He is so spoiled that the minute he sees me, he starts bleating. He learned very quickly that I can be counted on to bring all sorts of treats - every time I work in the yard and gardens (which is almost daily), the goats are given all sorts of tasty trimmings. If it doesn't suit the goats' taste, it goes into the compost heap. |
FOR SALE - $50Alfie is also a young wether and for months was my favorite of the herd. But now Champ is giving him a run for the money as the goat with the sweetest disposition. Alfie owes his name to a combination of two factors. "Alfalfa" (as in "Spanky and Our Gang") seemed too long a name to call such a cute little fellow, so we shortened it to "Alfie," which is also a tribute to our dear friend in Athenry, Ireland - Alfie Deehan. |

The Fab Four come up for some tasty oak leaves, which they seem to think are every bit as good as potato chips. When I acquired the three white goats, I needed a way to distinguish between the two groups when I talked to my husband about the goats. So now we have the Fab Four and the Holy Goats, so named due to the fact that they are (mostly) white and there are three of them. My husband and I are faithful Presbyterians, so there's no disrespect intended - it's just a little wordplay.
Billy Bob and Nanny Sue relax, with young Spanky barely visible behind his mom. Maybe I'm prejudiced, but I think they're a mighty handsome family! |
Snow White takes a stand to let the boys know that she won't be bullied about. Neither Snow or Belle seems to be the least bit intimidated by Spanky's and Alfie's horns.
Snow White and Bonnie Blue Bell - A beautiful pair of young does, don't you think? |
Belle and Alfie go head-to-head at their first meeting. Maybe now that they're better acquainted, this pose could be called "seeing eye to eye." |
