Oak Cliff Churches for Emergency Aid

Oak Cliff Churches for Emergency Aid (OCCEA) is a collective effort of the churches in Oak Cliff to meet the emergency needs of people living in Oak Cliff.  By combining our resources, we are able to distribute food and financial aid to many more people than we could otherwise assist.

Our office is located inside Oak Cliff Presbyterian Church.  Our telephone number is 214-943-7757, and our fax is 214-943-4022.  Our mailing address is P. O. Box 3923, Dallas, TX 75208.  Click here for a map.

Those We Help

  • People with verified needs, regardless of age, sex, race, religious belief or national origin.  The nature and extent of the needs are determined by our volunteer staff.

  • People who live in Oak Cliff ZIP codes 75203, 75208, 75211, 75212, 75216, 75224, 75232, 75233, 75236, 75237, 75241, and 75249, and who have identification and proof of current address in Oak Cliff with them at each visit.

  • People with temporary and emergency needs.  Persons with permanent needs are referred to public or private agencies.

  • People may be referred for aid by member congregations.

  • Agencies requesting assistance to help meet the needs of their clients.

How We Help

Emergency Aid

  • We provide food to the hungry in our service area, designed as a balanced diet suited to the client's needs.

  • We provide short-term financial assistance for rent or utilities, transportation, and medical expenses after screening by the Community Help Line (211).  All monetary help is done by phone and mail.

  • We try to connect people with the services appropriate to their longer-term needs.

  • We refer people to helping services outside of our area.

Our workload is constantly growing, but our grass-roots spirit does not change.  We have more than 60 volunteers from about 30 churches, and no paid staff.  We are supported by donations of food and money from congregations, from individuals, organizations, and businesses.  We benefit from low-cost food we buy from the North Texas Food Bank.

Hours of Operation
